Objectives

The goals of this policy are:

  1. Higher-quality releases 
  2. Support for more targets 
  3. Continued encouragement of major infrastructure improvements 
  4. More predictable release schedules 

Rationale

It has been difficult for us to make consistent, high-quality releases that support a wide variety of targets. We would like to have a more concerted effort to encourage major infrastructure improvements that benefits the community at large. A published development and release plan is a mechanism that Open64 Steering Group would like to orchestrate collaborative development effort across different pocket of Open64 community. In addition, a consistent schedule will make it possible for a Release Manager to better understand his or her time commitment will be when he or she agrees to take the job.
